Alpine Blinds provides a blind service to the Ayr area.
By using a blind company, you often don’t need to worry about measuring up for the blinds yourself. A good company will be able to send someone to your home to take measurements and ensure you get the perfect fit blind. But if you do want to do some measuring up yourself before you start to get some ideas about blind size, here are some tips.
Before you start, decide where the blind will be located – inside the window or outside the recess that holds the window. Inside the recess can work well for smaller rooms as it makes the blind seem less conspicuous. It is also a good option if you plan to have a blind and curtains as the curtains will hang outside while the blind is inside. If you have a larger room and want to ensure you block out as much light as possible, go outside the recess and make sure there’s a good overlap.
For inside recess blinds, measure the width of the recess at the narrowest point. Then measure the height of the recess from the windowsill to the top. For outside the recess, measure the recess and add 4cm to each side. Then measure the height and add 15cm.
You might also want to consider which side you want the cord, pulley or other mechanism before shopping – if one side is easier to access than the other, that’s where you want the mechanism.
